2010 CCA Dragon Boat Festival
Dear Friends,
2010 Charlotte Dragon boat Festival will be on Saturday May 15, 2010. CCA will participate this event again. The festival will start from 8:00 AM and end around 4:00 PM. This will be the fifth time that CCA participate the Dragon boat race. It is also a great family outing event on the Lake Norman . Most of you are veteran of this event and I am sure we will have a good time this year.
CCA dragon boat team has a great history in the dragon boat race; we were overall 2nd place in the 2006 race (http://www.charlottedragonboat.com/race-results.html). We did reasonably well from 2007-2009. As more and more teams enter the race, the competition is getting tougher and tougher. In order to repeat our 2006 glory, we need to practice more before the race.
Here is what I need from you if you decide to participate this year:
- Attached you could find the registration form, please fill in the second page waiver form together with a copy of your photo ID (driver license). Bring those to me at our first practice so that I can give them to the organizer.
-
Attached you also could find the practice schedule, I plan to practice once a week staring on Saturday April, I think 10:00 – 11:00 time slot is the best for us. It is not very hot and we can still do our normal shopping after the practice. However, please feel free to let me know your opinion and we can always adjust the schedule.
-
We need more female paddlers; if you know anyone is interested, please feel free to let me know. Attached you could find the preliminary team roster, pink font names are our female team members.
-
Once you decide to join our team, we need the commitment, please try your best to attend each practice. I also recommend that you do upper body strength training from now on.
On the race day, CCA will provide food and drink to each paddler; we will also have a celebration after the race. I will mail the registration form out tomorrow. The organizer will have a class on Friday, March 19 at 6 :00 PM. I plan to attend the class; you are welcome to join me. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. My cell number is: 704-807-9821.
Most importantly, please let me if you are in as soon as possible. I can add new member if you decide to drop out.
Thanks,
Edward Yu
