About HSK exam

HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) or the Chinese Proficiency Test is an international standardized
exam which tests and rates Chinese language proficiency. It assesses non-native Chinese
speakers’ abilities in using the Chinese language in their daily, academic and professional lives.
HSK test was developed in 1984 and the first HSK test was held overseas in 1991. Since then,
the Chinese testing centers have spread all over domestic and foreign lands.
Non native Chinese speakers may apply their HSK scores to enhance their scholarship and/or job
prospectus in Chinese speaking regions such as Mainland China and Singapore, as well as
worldwide opportunities that require Chinese language skills. Here are some of the examples:

 A valid score of HSK-3 at 210 or higher may help undergraduate students receive a one-
year Chinese government scholarship to study in China
 A valid score of HSK-5 at 210 or higher may help students to receive full scholarship
offered by the Chinese universities to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degrees in
China
 A valid score of HSK-6 may help candidates obtain jobs in China and/or other Chinese
speaking regions
